Today’s programme features Beethoven’s Sonata No 9 Kreutzer and Richard Strauss’ Sonata in E flat major. The Kreutzer sonata, regarded as the pinnacle of violin sonatas, is one of Beethoven’s best-known works. At its first performance, with Beethoven on piano, the violinist George Bridgetower sight-read the score, because Beethoven only finished it the night before. Strauss’ sonata for violin and piano, with its beautiful, flowing melodies, was his last original chamber piece. Nikola Pajanović is a Slovenian violinist is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music. He is a first-place award winner at international competitions in Italy, North Macedonia and Serbia. His brother Stefan Pajanović studied piano at the Academy of music in Ljubljana and is currently a répétiteur with the Slovenian National Opera and Ballet.
